Anniversary

Four years of marriage have to be celebrated, right?
So my hubby and I decided to give this happy day a special twist and we reserved a table at the “Taubenkobel” (an 18 points Gault Millau restaurant) in Schützen/Gebirge, Austria.

What can I say – we have been to this restaurant a few times before and never have been disappointed. Yesterday did not mark an exception. We were greeted very courteously, our waiter was funny but not intrusive at all and the food managed to surprise in several courses (I think all in all there were eleven).

What now makes this restaurant so special? Well, first of all it’s location, location, location.

I personally like the special architecture of those old buildings that are so typical for this area in Austria. The owners managed to incorporate the old into the new.

Secondly the food is extraordinary. Have a look at the pictures – simply great. And the best thing about the food is that it’s local.

I do not like tomatoes and it was not a problem at all for the kitchen and they made a special pastry for me which was a “taste explosion” of natural flavors.

I especially enjoyed the artichoke and the “Schützender Jause” (freshly baked bread, lard, herbs, butter,…) and the final course of spinach and sour cream was a real delight.
Finally my hubby and I decided end our dinner with some espresso and vanilla cake. Unfortunately we were too tired (after four and a half hours of pure enjoyment) to go to the bar and have a drink (perfect choices of gin, rum and whiskey) and a cigar.

It’s Taubenkobel’S fault we won’t come back too soon as we have to try Taubenkobel’s pop up restaurant in Vienna in November and December 2017. 😉
